Researchers are making progress on developing stem cell therapies to treat Parkinson's (and other neurodegenerative conditions) as this BBC article shows. There have been some fairly impressive early work and demonstrations, but it seems we are still some way away from human trials of any therapy. In part, this is due to the stifling effects of restrictive or threatened legislation. In part, it is simply the case that more funding is needed.
