On Mental Degeneration

SAGE Crossroads looks at age-related mental decline and what could be done about it. "Contrary to popular belief, 'there is not an inexorable decline in mental function in older people. If you follow [older] people over time, a lot do get worse, but most stay the same--and some get better.' ... A growing body of research is geared toward determining what keeps some people's minds nimble into old age, and how to reproduce that success in the rest of us. Some scientists have identified genes that are associated with successful aging of the brain and hope to find drugs with similar effects. Others have discovered that simpler solutions like mental exercises also might prevent dementia." Pfizer is currently testing ways of replicating a genetic difference found in some of the most mentally capable centenarians.

I had a life and job where I was on top of my field. Discovery National Geo ect wanted us for more than documentary's, like seasonal shoes to run for years. I always got fronted because I was the person with the most of my life on the line and put in the hours that overwhelmed everyone else. Please forgive my arrogance but I could or was like a poster boy for crazy adrenalin workaholic man of the moment daring death to even try to take me,and the last time I just lost it out of the blue and taken down with Neuropathy. I went from $ to Knocking on heavens door I;m wondering if there is anyone who knows how to make a come back. Degenerative back disease, lots of surgerys on femur 2 inches short one side I havent asked anyone for help altough until now I'd worked40 years straight not the last 2 years Help

I am looking for a publication that classifies the diverse forms of age-related mental deterioration and which gives some form of statistical analysis showing the percentage of the elderly population of the UK suffering from each of these forms of deterioration.
