The Effects of Exercise on Bone Marrow

An interesting discovery, and one more benefit of exercise: "researchers have found one more reason to exercise: working out triggers influential stem cells to become bone instead of fat, improving overall health by boosting the body's capacity to make blood. The body's mesenchymal stem cells are most likely to become fat or bone, depending on which path they follow. ... The exercising mice ran less than an hour, three times a week, enough time to have a significant impact on their blood production ... In sedentary mice, the same stem cells were more likely to become fat, impairing blood production in the marrow cavities of bones. ... The composition of cells in the bone marrow cavity has an important influence on the productivity of blood stem cells. In ideal conditions, blood stem cells create healthy blood that boosts the immune system, permits the efficient uptake of oxygen, and improves the ability to clot wounds. Bone cells improve the climate for blood stem cells to make blood. But when fat cells start to fill the bone marrow cavity - a common symptom of sedentary behavior - blood stem cells become less productive, and conditions such as anemia can result. ... Some of the impact of exercise is comparable to what we see with pharmaceutical intervention. Exercise has the ability to impact stem cell biology. It has the ability to influence how they differentiate."



reasearching continually,am wondering what effect exercise wwould or could have on myleodysplasia, i am only low grade, but transfusion dependant every 6 weeks.I cant take Revlimid ,and got to thinking maybe exercise reguarly cant hurt, but will it helP i am aslo contrating on diet juice therapies,sleep and mind health.

I have not yet been diagnosed with MDS, but I am being watched for it. My WBC went from 4500 to 2500 in a four year period, in which I was not eating well and not exercising at all. I started cold pressed juice and it went up to 4800 in a eek, but I still have high monocytes, everything else looks okay. I never realized how important healthy blood is. It is health.
I definitely am going to start exercising again..oxygen helps blood..i am also doing research on everything I can do to reverse the potential of getting it. The 2 things that I did not do for those years was not exercise at all and not eat I say exercise for sure. And continue juicing. Have yo found any other helpful things?

I am writing an adult coloring book on health. I found all major health problems and preventions follow the same path. Nutrition and exercise . Of course there are some major diseases will occur no matter what . Diabetes, ,cardiovascular, Brain, bone, skin and others all follow the same requirements.
Exercise and lots of it builds strong bones necessary to produce immune cells. Harvard's recommendation of 30 min 5 times a wk is not even a good start--90 minutes a day will give results. 30 min 1st thing in the AM would clean out lymph, circulate rich blood, and release enzymes like cortisol ?
Then muscle contractions are necessary pump lymph fluid carrying the fighters to the battlefield.
Exercise causes rapid breathing and increased hearth rate moving fast flowing oxygen rich over the body including the brain. The brain needs this to irrigate the cells and remove waste proteins to keep thinking clear..
Diet and exercise must work hand in hand to achieve success. Once we eat good food it must be processed and sent to areas of need. If not needed, it will simply end up as saturated fat. "The worst food a human can eat is the first bite after having enough for daily requirements."
